On the 24th July at Lister Park, Bradford, James Ireson won the National Road Race U14 championship against some of the strongest U14 riders in the country. The course was over 14 laps (roughly 1.2 miles per lap), with a 400mtr 1/12 climb in each lap. The race came down to a final sprint for the line, contested by 10 riders including fellow wheelers Jack Escritt and Ryan Philips.
