Another successful days racing held under mostly brilliant sunshine.  We had a good turnout with 146 riders in total.  Not too bad considering the Cyclo-Cross season is now under way.  The Wheelers were well represented in all categories.  From the Under 8's with Oliver Evans and Ewan McDonald, the Under10's Matt Lewis 2nd, Ben Hardwick 3rd and Georgia Hilleard, 2nd Girl, all making the podium.  What a ride from Jack Escritt in the under 12's riding away from the rest of the field.  Jack just gets faster with every race (must be all the pasta he is eating!!!)   Jack was well backed up with Ryan Phillips in 2nd place and Jess Ansell 2nd Girl both showing excellent form.  Next up was the under 14's, Adam Lewis didn't disappoint us, with another superb win.  Once again, great back up from the Wheelers with Tom Childs taking 3rd place, Tim Metcalfe 5th, Lauren Pestana 1st Girl and Lauren Evans 2nd Girl.   In the under 16's Richard Walkerdine, improving with every ride, took a great 3rd place.  Elliot Jones was 5th and Josh Burke 11th.

Moving onto the senior races, Jess Booth Halesowen A&CC did a storming ride to lap the field in the Womens race, where Kate Evans and Lauren Creamer riding comfortably in the bunch came in a respectful 6th and 7th.  A special mention of the Wheelers Lucy Poole, riding her first race against super strong competition.  Lucy persevered and bravely completed the full distance. Well done Lucy.

The 3rd/4th cat race got under way with 34 starters.  Dave Starkey was soon into the action, breaking away with Brooks Cycles Chris Horsfield and holding off the bunch for several laps before Chris dropped back and Dave was bought back into the fold.  There was plenty of action through out the race, but there was no mistaking the winner, when Dave stormed up the finishing straight to claim a well earned win.  Congratulations Dave, hope this is the first of many.  And what about Andy Jones? Andy's 8th place showed "there is still some life in the old dog".  Also in the top 10, from the Wheelers was Todd Hotchkiss. Well done guys.

And finally the Elite 1st/2nd Race featured Richard Hepworth and David Clarke breaking away together to hold off a classy field.  Wheelers, John Cooper, still a junior, chased hard to split the bunch and gained 5th place for his hard work.  All in all some excellent results from the Wheelers in all categories.  Members of the Wolverhampton Wheelers can be very proud of all our riders.

Finally a big thank you to all the helpers through out this series.  It is good to see so many new faces offering to assist in the running of these events.
