Ladies Only Cycling Sessions at
Aldersley Stadium

Following
the success of Wednesday and Friday evening cycling
sessions at the refurbished track, Wolverhampton
Wheelers are expanding their provision of coached
sessions by starting ladies only sessions on Monday
evenings.
Since
Wolverhampton city council and sport England financed
the refurbishment of cycling track at Aldersley Leisure
village in 2005 the number of adults and youths using
the facilities has grown steadily. Weather permitting up
to forty five experienced riders have been attending on
Wednesday evenings over the winter. Seeing these riders
ride close to each other at speeds at times over 30
miles per hour is an impressive site.
Youth
success
On Friday
evenings it is the turn of the younger and more
inexperienced riders. These evenings see up to thirty
youngsters, aged five and above, learning bike handling
skills, developing fitness and having fun with their
friends. When the youths are finished it is time for the
less experienced or more mature adults to have their go.
Many of the youth riders’ mothers have expressed an
interest in having a go but are concerned that they will
be embarrassed by their skill level and speed; therefore
the club has arranged to run some ladies only sessions.
Ladies
only
Sessions
will run from 7.00 pm until 8.00pm. Each session will be
run by qualified British Cycling coaches. They will be
aimed at ladies of all abilities with the intention of
being fun, building confidence, improving bike handling
skills and improving fitness. Any lady is welcome;
please bring your bike and a helmet.
