This 'gruelling' event takes years of dedicated practice is fiercely contested......

 

OK this might be a slight exaggeration......

It is a fun event held near Sherrifhales (Shifnal way) and is open to one and all young and old alike.

 

The Club runs will leave Aldersley Stadium as normal at 9.30 am and will be a steady ride out to the event scheduled to start at 11.00am or there abouts.

 

The idea is simple, the rider simply freewheels down the hill and as it rises again will eventually come to a halt.

The one who travels the furthest is the winner - Easy!

Only one or two rules, the riders L/H crank is secured to the chainstay of the frame to ensure no pedalling can take place and you are not allowed to do track stands or jump the bike along once you have lost natural momentum.

 

The 'post race evaluation' is normally conducted in the salubrious surroundings of the Spiders Web Cafe in Cosford soon after the podium presentations.

 

The organiser is Dave Hill who would be grateful if all those who posses 'toe straps' please bring as many as you have along with you. This greatly speed the vent up and reduced the need to do repeated climbs of the hill!
